Summount started life as Korklin & Co, a dated accounting firm in desperate need of transformation. With new tax legislation threatening to wipe out over 50% of the existing client base, a new ideal client was needed and with that, a new offering.
Conscious not to get lost amongst other accounting firms, Summount’s new offering was to combine the best bits of accounting, business coaching and financial advice, all under one roof and built around the concept of ‘financial freedom’.
Through a number of discovery calls, key stakeholder sessions and team workshops, the new brand concept and offering was in the early stages of infancy, until we hit our first obstacle…
‘Financial freedom’ was a term that the team didn’t feel comfortable with. It sounded like something best saved for snake oil seminars that overpromise and underdeliver. One team member likened it to a supermop commercial. Not the message we were going for.
And so we went back to the drawing board, trawling through our initial discovery process until we arrived at the new idea of surmounting your possibilities, and living life on your terms.
The name Summount was born.
The new brand and offering was then extended into a brand platform (structure, values, tone, imagery) as well as a number of brand materials and a new website.
Then we hit our second obstacle… getting the team to buy in to this new vision and direction for the company. To solve this, we ran a team strategy session explaining the new brand and offering insights into how the culture might change to support it. This resulted in full team buy-in and an exciting buzz around the office.
Summount are still in their early days and we’re looking forward to watching them grow.
